Headaches can happen to us anytime and they can be so disruptive , painful and uncomfortable. Most of the time we simply reach out for pain killers to deal with them but there are some natural remedies that can help alleviate the discomfort . Below are some common ones :
HYDRATION: Sometimes a headache could be a result of dehydration, so the best solution in such a case would be to rehydrate with water. We can maintain optimal hydration by ensuring we drink water throughout the day.
CAFFEINE CONSUMPTION : Caffeine in small amounts can reduce headache symptoms in some people ( we all react differently to caffeine : I used to take a lot in my schooling days to stay awake ) . However excess consumption can lead to rebound headaches .
PEPPERMINT OIL: Applying DILUTED Peppermint essential oil to the temples can provide a cooling sensation and improve blood flow . There are some forehead roll on remedies sold for headaches
GINGER TEA: Ginger has powerful anti-inflammatory properties which can help provide headache relief. Ginger tea is very easy to make at home .
TEMPERATURE THERAPY: This involves either warm or cold temperatures
Cold Compress: Just apply a cold pack or cold cloth to the forehead. This helps numb the area and this reduce the painful sensation
Warm Compress: This involves applying a warm compress around the neck and shoulders . This helps to relax tightened muscles during tension headaches
ADEQUATE SLEEP: Not getting enough sleep and irregular sleep patterns can lead to headaches . This happens to me when I don’t sleep well
AROMATHERAPY: Applying an essential oil like Lavender oil to our temples can help reduce headache symptoms. Please don’t use concentrated Essential oils . It must be diluted with a good CARRIER OIL
