THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU APPLY THAT PERFUME OR FRAGRANCE TO THE PULSE POINTS ON YOUR SKIN!

Many years ago, I suffered from estrogen dominance, leading to PMS, fibroids, period pains, etc.

Little did I know that my diet and lifestyle were contributing to it.

As most of us out there do, I used to spray perfumes on the “Pulse Points” of my skin.

I learnt of its dangers during my Detox Specialist course. It was an eye-opener.

I’m going to share with you the dangers of applying perfumes to those pulse points continuously.

Perfumes and fragrances contain chemicals called Phthalates.

Now you are wondering what Phthalates are.

Phthalates are synthetic chemical fixatives (these are substances that slow down evaporation). The most common one is called Diethyl Phthalate (DEP) and is used in perfumes, colognes, and body sprays.

As shared above, their primary function is to make fragrances last longer by binding the scent to the skin and slowing down evaporation. Great concept, but bad for the body!

However, because phthalates are not chemically bound to the fragrance formula, they easily leach out and are absorbed into your body through your skin and cause damage.

The sad part is that ingredient labels often hide these chemicals under the generic term “fragrance” or “parfum,” so innocent consumers are unknowingly exposed to them daily.

Below are evidence-based risks of Phthalate exposure.

🎯 Endocrine Disruption:
Phthalates act as “hormone disruptors” by mimicking or blocking natural hormones like estrogen and testosterone. This can cause systemic hormonal imbalances in both men and women. This can, for example, lead to or fuel the growth of fibroids.

🎯 Reproductive Toxicity:
Studies link high phthalate levels to lower sperm quality, reduced testosterone, and altered genital development in males. Are you a man and are suffering from any of these?

In women, exposure has been tied to early menopause, endometriosis, and pregnancy complications. Ladies, let’s be careful.

🎯 Increased Risk of Chronic Conditions:
Prolonged chemical absorption is associated with metabolic issues, metabolic toxicity, thyroid dysfunction, and an increased risk of certain cancers. Please don’t take this lightly.

🎯 Allergies and Respiratory Issues:
Inhaling or absorbing fragrance phthalates can trigger contact dermatitis, eczema, asthma attacks, and chronic migraines. So, if you are asthmatic or suffer from migraines constantly, this may be a root cause.

🎯 Carcinogenic risks:
Such as Breast and Prostate cancers.

🎯 Cardiovascular risks:
Such as high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease.

What is the danger of spraying perfumes on “Body Pulse Points”?

The traditional method of applying fragrance or spraying them in pulse points like the wrists, neck, inner elbows, and behind the ears maximises the absorption of toxic chemicals into the bloodstream.

How?

Pulse points generate localised body heat that projects the scent. However, that same heat opens pores and expands blood vessels, drastically speeding up transdermal/skin delivery straight into your circulation before the liver can metabolize or filter the chemicals!!!

These body pulse points include:

📌 Wrists & Inner Elbows

📌 Neck & Carotid Arteries

📌 Behind the ears

Here’s how to reduce your risk:

📌 Switch to Phthalate-Free & Clean Fragrances:
Look for labels explicitly stating “Phthalate-Free” or products scented with 100% natural essential oils. I prefer natural oils.

📌 Spray your Clothes, Not your Skin:
Apply fragrance to clothing fabric rather than directly on pulse points to prevent dermal absorption. This is what I practice.

📌 Check Ingredient Lists:
Learn to always read labels, especially the ingredients list.

Avoid products listing nonspecific “fragrance” or “parfum” without a full transparency breakdown.
