Discover the Magic of Juicing!

Juicing seems to be a buzz word in the health conscious circles and I love the fact that it’s getting so much attention these days 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾.

So what is juicing ? It’s the process used to extract the natural fluid or fluid content from a plant( fruits or vegetables). There are manual and mechanical ways of doing this . I’d rather go for the mechanical way using a slow masticating juicer.

Considering the fact that fruits and vegetables are loaded with a wide range of vitamins , minerals , enzymes ( micronutrients) and also phytochemicals, it’s imperative that we consume a large amount of them to maintain good health , prevent diseases and to fight diseases .

Juicing is an easy way to load our bodies with these fruits and vegetables , through these delicious drinks produced . The juices created contain the whole fruit or vegetable except for the fibre . This is the main difference between juices and smoothies . Smoothies contain the indigestible fibre which has been removed from juices .

Benefits of juicing

  • Vitamin C and other water-soluble vitamins (B’s) remain unchanged and intact . Cooking tends to destroy or damage them . Processing them other ways can also damage them .
  • Enzymes that play a key role in digestion and other functions remain intact too. We must maintain our enzyme bank . Just eating cooked foods would deplete out enzyme bank .
  • The body is readily infused and flooded in a very short time , with all the nutrients that promote health because they are in a form that’s very easy for the body to absorb after digestion ( you know how when doctors want quick action from medicines they give injections and drops instead of tablets , juices give that quick effect )
  • Green vegetables help the body detoxify as they are rich in chlorophyll that’s responsible for the green colour . It’s imperative we detoxify regularly because we are bombarded daily with pollutants .
  • Juices rejuvenate our bodies . If we want to age slowly and feel vibrant , then we need these raw juices .

It’s recommended that we consume 2 glasses of fresh juice ( not shop bought ones that are loaded with additives etc, that’s a story for another day ) . However for anyone trying to heal quickly , 4 glasses or more are recommended.

The question is , are we getting enough in our daily diet? Practically taking on juicing would indeed be one of the best decisions anyone would make especially in these modern times of poor nutrition through junk , processed. and fast foods that flood the market .
