Diabetes is a CHRONIC METABOLIC DISEASE/DISORDER which is characterised by Elevated ( High) Blood Sugar levels . High or Elevated blood sugar levels is a symptom of the disease . It is not the disease ,so just lowering blood sugar isn’t going to treat or reverse it
Root Causes:
Beta function disorder of the Pancreas : These cells produce and release INSULIN when our blood sugar levels rise after meals .
Insulin Resistance: This happens when the cells refuse to grant access to insulin that acts as a key bring excess sugar in .

Types of Diabetes:
Type 1 Diabetes which is an autoimmune immune disease. The body , the immune system attacks its own cells, the beta cells in the pancreas . The immune system sees the beta cells as a foreigners to be destroyed . It’s like an internal war . It affects 5-10% of people with diabetes and it starts at an early age . There’s this belief that it happens as a result of an immune response to a viral infection .
Type 2 Diabetes is the most common form of diabetes and it affects 90-95% of sufferers . In this type , the beta cells may not produce enough insulin ( Beta-cell dysfunction) and also the cells are resistant to insulin so it can’t do its job
Type -3 is known as brain diabetes , referred to as Alzheimer’s disease
Gestational Diabetes is a type of diabetes that develops in women when they are pregnant . This affects about 4% of pregnant women . It’s believed that hormonal changes during pregnancy can alter the body’s sensitivity to insulin making it resistant to insulin . Most of the time, this disease disappears after delivery . However , it may be a sign that such women will develop Type -2 Diabetes later if care isn’t taken.
