Insulin resistance: The silent destroyer of our metabolic health.

This is one of the RISK FACTORS for METABOLIC which can eventually lead to Type-2 diabetes if not reversed .

What is insulin resistance ?

It’s the impairment of the body’s ability – liver , fat and muscle cells , to use insulin to process glucose ( sugar ). It simply means that the receptor cells for insulin in the body are resisting the hormone ( from occupying the sites and thus preventing blood glucose enter the cells for energy ) thus leading to high blood sugar. This the places pressure on the beta cells of the pancreas to produce more insulin that it’s even finding difficult to receive It’s a key underlying FACTOR in Diabetes !!!

What are the potential causes of insulin resistance ?

  • Sedentary lifestyle – lack of exercise
  • High carbohydrate and sugar diet
  • Obesity
  • Chronic stress
  • PCOS
  • Genes
  • High triglycerides
  • High blood pressure
  • Large waist -big belly

How do we reverse ?

  • Lifestyle changes eg more high fiber foods , removing fructose
  • Right Nutrition
  • Exercise
  • Supplements


It’s important to note that any woman who has had gestational diabetes is at high risk of the disease and further developing .

If insulin resistance can be effectively dealt with , then one major contributing factor to diabetes is removed and the path of reversal is being followed
